Sprott-Shaw International Language College utilizes the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) to assess students in all 4 skills:
  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Writing

D e s c r i p t i o n

The Canadian Language Benchmarks has 12 levels delivered in 3 stages. It is designed to accurately assess a student's ability to communicate in each skill area.

Sprott-Shaw International Language College understands that students may be weaker in one skill area and higher in another. The Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) addresses this by testing students' speaking, listening, writing and reading separately and assigning a level to each area. Therefore, students have the direction to work on each skill at the appropriate level, in turn progressing more quickly.

The curriculum has been designed to give students the opportunity to focus on areas that need the most help, and with their instructor, develop an action plan that will address their individual communication needs.
